 Server Maintenance Shenanigans

I logged on today to do some quests in the barrens and the server name was changed. So i went to the one that had legion in the name and it still had my character. Thing is it bumped me down one level, I lost some items i had made/obtained the other day, and my enchanting skill went down. Does anybody know what happend?
